The app offers short audio guides, each focused on a key mental skill like confidence, motivation, focus, self-talk, and emotion control. It's built for athletes of all levels, from beginners to professionals, with easy-to-follow exercises that only take a few minutes a day. These skills are critical for improving performance and wellbeing. The app’s structure is designed to fit seamlessly into your daily routine, so you can train your mind as you train your body.
  • How does Getahead work?
    Getahead provides 90-second to 3-minute audio guides, each covering a specific mental strength. After each audio session, you’ll be given an activity designed to help you apply what you've learned to your specific sport or situation. This hands-on practice ensures you're not just learning theory, but also applying it in real-life contexts. As you complete sessions, you’ll track your progress in each of the five key areas. By following your personalised training plan, you can make consistent, measurable improvements in your mental game.
  • What are the 5 key mental strengths the app focuses on?
    Getahead focuses on: - Confidence: Building belief in your abilities. - Motivation: Finding the drive to keep pushing forward. - Focus: Staying present and concentrated on your goals. - Self-talk: Developing positive inner dialogue. - Emotion Control: Managing stress, nerves, and other emotions. Each of these strengths plays a significant role in improving your mental game. Together, they help athletes of all levels build their best mindset.
  • How long does each session take?
    Each audio guide lasts between 90 seconds to 3 minutes, which is perfect for people with busy schedules. After listening, you’ll be given an activity that takes just a few minutes to complete, making the total time around 5 minutes a day. This format is designed to fit into any routine, whether you're squeezing it in on the way to work, before training sessions or at home. By keeping it short, we ensure that mental training is consistent without feeling overwhelming.
  • Who creates the content in the app?
    All the content in Getahead is created by our expert team of sports psychologists. Our psychologists specialise in helping athletes enhance their mental performance, using methods backed by research and real-world success. We ensure that each session is rooted in proven sports psychology techniques, which have been tested and validated through scientific studies and athletic performance outcomes. This means you're getting professional, evidence-based advice every time.
  • Do I need any special equipment to use the app?
    No, you don’t need any special equipment. All you need is your smartphone and a quiet space where you can focus on listening to the audio sessions and completing the activities. This flexibility allows you to do your mental training at home, at the gym, or even while travelling. The exercises are simple but powerful, making it easy to practise anywhere, anytime.
  • How do I create a mental training plan?
    Creating a mental training plan is easy! Simply go to the “My Plan” section in the app, select the mental strengths you want to work on (confidence, motivation, etc.), and choose which days of the week you’d like to train. The app will then generate a schedule for you, ensuring that you're working on the areas that matter most to you. You can adjust this plan at any time, so it fits your evolving needs and goals. Whether you want to focus more on emotion control or build your motivation, Getahead adapts to your journey.
  • How do I track my progress?
    You can track your progress in the “Progress” section of the app. This feature displays your scores for each of the five key mental strengths and shows how they’ve improved over time as you complete more sessions. Tracking progress allows you to see where you're growing and where you might want to put in a little extra effort. It’s a great motivator to stay consistent and see tangible results from your mental training.
  • Can I change my mental training plan?
    Yes, you can modify your mental training plan whenever you need to. Simply go back to the “My Plan” section “Manage Plan” in the top left. Update the areas of focus or adjust the days you train. This flexibility allows you to shift your focus based on upcoming competitions or new goals. Life and sports are unpredictable, so we’ve made it easy for you to adjust the app to your changing needs, without losing momentum in your mental training journey.
  • How often should I use the app?
    For best results, we recommend using the app at least 5 minutes a day, following the training plan you’ve set. Consistency is key when it comes to mental training, just like physical training. While it may feel easy to skip a day or two, sticking to a daily routine helps you build lasting habits and see steady progress over time. The app is designed to fit seamlessly into your day without overwhelming your schedule.
  • Will I see immediate results?
    Results vary depending on the individual, but with consistent use, you should start to notice small improvements in your mental game. Over time, you’ll see more significant changes in how you approach training and competitions, especially in managing pressure and staying focused. Keep in mind that, like physical fitness, mental strength is something you build over time. Be patient and trust the process—your efforts will pay off with dedication.
  • Is Getahead suitable for beginners?
    Absolutely! Getahead is designed for athletes of all levels, whether you're just starting out or are already competing at a high level. The sessions are straightforward and can be customised to fit your personal goals and needs, making it perfect for beginners who are new to mental training. As you gain experience, the app grows with you, offering more advanced concepts and techniques to continue challenging and improving your mental game.
  • Can I use Getahead alongside my regular training?
    Yes, Getahead is designed to complement your physical training, not replace it. Mental strength is a critical part of athletic success, and by integrating Getahead into your routine, you'll enhance both your mind and body. Many athletes find that mental training improves their focus during workouts and competitions, allowing them to push through physical barriers and stay calm under pressure.
  • How do I know which mental strength to focus on?
    If you’re unsure where to start, we offer an in-app assessment to help you identify which areas might benefit you the most. This assessment takes into account your current mental strengths and areas for improvement, offering personalised recommendations. Alternatively, you can choose based on your specific goals. For example, if you struggle with nerves during competitions, you might start by focusing on emotion control and confidence. You can always reach out to one of our expert sports psychologists for a more in-depth assessment.
  • Is there a community or support group in the app?
    At the moment, Getahead focuses on delivering personalised, one-on-one mental training. While we don’t have an in-app community feature (yet), we encourage members to follow our social media channels for tips, motivation, and updates from other athletes using the app. We’re working on building an in-app community space to share journeys as well as specific tips from our sports psychologist. Keep a lookout for our in person events too!
  • Can I use Getahead if I'm not an athlete?
    Yes! While the app is tailored to athletes and exercisers, anyone looking to improve their mental resilience, focus, and motivation can benefit from our sessions. Whether you’re preparing for a big presentation or just want to develop a more positive mindset. The mental skills taught in Getahead are transferable beyond sport and fitness. They can be valuable in any area of life, from work to personal challenges.
  • Is there a free trial available?
    Yes, Getahead offers a 7-day free trial for new users. This allows you to explore the app, try out the mental training sessions, and see how it works for you before committing to a subscription. After the trial period, you can choose a plan that fits your budget and training needs. We offer monthly or annual subscription options to suit various commitment levels.
